In the Desert…
After 5 innings, the Cubs 1 team in Mesa had just taken a 2-1 lead over the Dodgers in game one of the Arizona League Championship. Starting pitcher Peyton Remy was solid with 6 Ks. His only mistake was one HR. Things were looking good!
When the 6th inning began, Remy was pulled in favor of Carlos Ocampo. Within 20 minutes, the lead was gone and the Cubs trailed 7-2 after giving up 6 runs, 2 of them unearned. Raidel Orta had to come in and finally ended the bleeding in the sixth.
Unlike the night before, Cubs 1 were not able to mount a comeback.
Luckily for Cubs 1, they are still alive in the best of three series. The Cubs still have some of their best starters in the wings waiting to take the hill.
Up in Salem-Keizer…
In yesterday’s post, I talked about the greatness of Joey Bart and how he scared me. Last night, He went off against the Ems as Salem Keizer just rolled over Eugene. After three innings, it was 8-1 and the deluge was just beginning. I will spare you the details of the rest of the 15-5 loss. The less said, the better.
The two teams are now tied with the Emeralds holding the tiebreaker. The two clubs go at it again tonight. If Eugene gets the win, they would basically hold a two game lead with three left. The key is to win tonight.
